Ancient Agora
The Ancient Agora is one of the most significant archeological and historical sites of Thassos, along with the Acropol and Ancient Theater. It is located in Limenas, the island capital, within close walking distance from the center and the old harbor. There are enough signs so there is no chance to miss it.
The Agora covers an area with rectangular shape. It dates back to 4-5 century B.C. but excavations revealed it in the middle of 20 century. It shows ruins of buildings, temples, sanctuaries, statues, etc. Some of the sanctuaries are scattered in the close vicinity, and on the small hills above the Agora you can visit the Ancient Theater, the ruins of the Acropolis and a few more remains of temples and the Cave of Pan.
